ADAMS — June 10, 2026 — Adams Select Board unanimously ratifies three town employees and moves to drain reserve fund over legal bill crisis. The board, meeting June 3, approved the appointments of Katie Lemansky as finance director at $80,463 annually, Tammy Flatly as assistant treasurer collector at $27.26 per hour, and James Hall as DPW working foreman at $36.20 per hour. The board also voted to ask the Finance Committee to release the remainder of the town's FY26 reserve fund — estimated at roughly $175,000 — to cover a legal services account that has expended $189,050 against a $60,000 original appropriation, leaving a current deficit of $125,307. Town Administrator Nick warned that additional legal bills will arrive before the June 30 fiscal year close, telling the board, "we don't have a magic baseball, but we're hopeful" the overage is an outlier. The Finance Committee must schedule and hold its approval meeting before July 15.
