Lanesborough Select Board Approves $13.85 Million Budget for Fiscal 2027
LANESBOROUGH — May 13, 2026 — Lanesborough Select Board approves fiscal 2027 budget at $13.85 million, a 10.28 percent increase, on a 2-1 vote. Chair Debra Maynard and member Jason Brielle backed the budget at the May 13 meeting; Michael Murphy voted against, amid tension over the Greylock Regional School District assessment of $7,586,284 — a figure Maynard called insufficiently scrutinized. Town Administrator Gina Dario noted that excluding health insurance and school costs, the rest of town government is rising "just over 1 percent." The board voted 2-1 to purchase a new fire engine using $380,000 from a stabilization fund and up to $700,000 in borrowing, and 2-1 on an $80,000 police vehicle replacement, with Maynard opposing the latter on grounds the town has more vehicles than officers. A solar lease proposal with EDF Renewables — projected at $110,000 to $120,000 per year on the town's capped landfill — was held for a building inspector's zoning determination before the board will sign. Annual town meeting is set for June 9 at Lanesborough Elementary School.
